For
this task, you will work in small teams in your own time to put together a
guide to the new draft specifications due to start in September 2017.
You will be allocated one of the following:
A level Media Studies (AQA, OCR, Eduqas)- Warda, Temmy O, Aimee, Katy
GCSE Media Studies (AQA, OCR, Eduqas)- Akira, Becky, Shanthi, Temi A
A level Film Studies (OCR, Eduqas)- Kris, Danny, Lorenza, Amy
GCSE Film Studies (OCR, Eduqas)- Daniel, Richard, Corey
You will need to find these draft
specifications and SAMs (Specimen Assessment Materials) exam papers from the
exam board websites:
More info and links are available at www.themea.org.uk
These include Steve Connolly's report for the MEA and direct links to all the specifications and the SAMs (specimen assessment materials)
What you need to find out:
What are the exams like?
What is the coursework like?
How do the different courses compare?
What philosophy seems to underlie each
specification?
What do you see as the strengths and
weaknesses of them?
You
will also need background information for the subject and level as a result of
the published subject criteria. These are at:
https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/further-gcse-and-a-level-content-for-teaching-from-september-2017 with a summary document here:
You
may collate and present your findings in any way you wish, but they should be
on the blog ready to discuss by next Wednesday (28th).
